Role

Supporting SAP System for Financial Accounting (R2-RF FI) and Management Accounting (R2-RK CO) for GE Lighting Europe which was consolidating recent purchases in the lighting industry. The GE operation stretched across Europe, including factories in London, Italy and Hungary, and large sales markets in France, Germany and Spain.

Cost Savings and Efficiency Gains

The SAP system allowed European level support possible, plus the integration of numerous different business under a common business architecture of business processes. For cash managment, the greater visibility of the AR payment process, allowed the company to negotiate better loans terms with the banks.

Specific Tasks

Coordination of A/R requirements at European Level

The SAP system was designed to provide common stream-lined business processes across all European subsidiaries. However, each country has specific requirements which were addressed via development requests

AR Cash Management Italy

Implementation of special customised Italian AR Invoice Factoring module to enable easy financial management of customer outstanding invoice payments. This included interfaces between the client and the banking systems in order to calculate total outstanding invoices, and invoices in paid. The modules enabled preferential financial cash-flow funding agreements to be signed thus saving the business significant costs in cash and treasury management. This required a suite of specially written ABAP modules to manage the data.

VAT / IVA / Sales Tax Reporting

Supporting the production of VAT reporting data from the SAP system.
